Rach-3 Nostalgia

One of my discoveries in my 1st of US life was Sergei Rachmaninof's music. Listening to his 2nd piano concerto's live performance at my college and later watching the film Shine, were enough to make me fall in love with Rachmaninof's music. The beautiful drama in Shine and the masterful way that Rach's 3rd piano was featured, had a strong influence on me. Later the treat was completed when I heard his Rach's 2nd symphony and a few other works.

Last week my city's wonderful orchestra did a superb performance of Rachmaninof's 3rd piano concerto. It was the 1st or 2nd time that I fell into tears during a live performance. A combination of nostalgia about the past and my amazement of the performance that was going on in front my eyes. The performance also had a new discovery for me: Denis Matsuev, a great pianist of our time. I can not express my amazement of this guy's dance-alike piano performance.

Quality of Life

"Why stay at all if you know eventually you'll leave?"
"I wouldn't know where else to go right now."
"but at some point you'll meet someone who will."
Her face colored. "I don't know. maybe."
"Of course Lyndsey, of course". He smiled, swirling the red wine in his glass. "We often rely on others to make out most important decisions. there's no reason to be ashamed of this."
